Thanx for the 'lead in' Wallace, the hardest part of this I feel is creating the line art! - I googled "fat sharpie"

I believe you're right RJKD.
Did you not know what a "fat sharpie" was?

I had the right font for it, so no much challenge for me. Sorry Wallace.
Then I did another in neon. :)

Nice go Issabella.

This challenges as well as the past challenge and any future challenges.
Are mostly about being creative and attempting the task presented.
How one arrives at his or her end result,
is up to each participant to ponder.
Which you've done very nicely.

Apparently I'm the only bunny who hand wrote(mouse wrote?) mine. Nice work, Issabella. Love the Neon. Can you tell me the name of the font, please?

Kimba, you have a fellow bunny! I used the mouse too. I think the font Issabella used looks like "Neon".

Thanks, Dalia. I'm sorry if I sounded cranky, it must be the rain and the power outage we had. We've also had Internet problems as our provider is UPDATING their system.

Kimba - I think Dalia is right; looks like the same font I used in mine, NEON.

You're welcome Kimba! :bigthup You did not sound cranky although you are entitled with the outage and internet problems. We just changed cable and internet service providers and the household thinks I have all the answers to the inherited service problems.

Kimba, Dalia is right, I used NEON font. I think it's much more valuable your try as you did everything by yourself. So a great :clap to you and Dalia. :)

I think I just about got it, finding it difficult to get nice clean work, any helpful suggestions would be gratefully appreciated - in Peace RJKD

Not bad at all RJKD. :bigthup

I usually start of using gray to black and white colors,
up until the render is nearly complete.
Also creating paths for both the inner part of the cable as well as the outer part.
Can help in making a nicely finished look to the cable and completed render.
I like to color the image,
when it's near completion.

RJKD - Wallace beat me to it and has already identified his approach for cables. But as with most things there are many ways to skin a cat ...

When we were discussing the TOTP logo we talked about paths and once again I use them in a similar way for cables, like this ....

Image

My approach -
1. draw the paths
2. stroke the path firstly with a brush/colour to be the full cable width
3. stroke the path with a thinner brush/colour for the highlight
4. select the stroked cable and apply Graechan's 'shine alpha' script with an optional pattern or colour but saving the layers
5. either just use the 'img' layer from the script over the stroked path or blend in also the colour or pattern from it too.

Above image uses both options; hope that builds on Wallace's methods to give you something to try out. :)

EDIT: For purpose of clarity I used the GIMP standard 'hardness 100' brush for the above stroking; i.e. I did not use Wallace's cable brush

I can not get the brush to change color from black. I can paint with another color using the brush, but when I go to stroke the path...black. :(

The brush was not made to paint in color.
Also, before you stroke a path with the brush.
Zoom in on the path at about 800 and make sure that it is at the size you want it to be once it's stroked.
You can click once or twice to check that the brush is the size you want.

Then how do you change it's color? Sorry for being obtuse, yet again, but I can not get another color. :(
