No one wants to wait for 800 plus fonts to load.

That is exactly what you do not do No wonder your computer is constipated.
1. Get a decent 2 pane file manager, MultiCommander (freeware) is not bad, there are others.
2. Instead of that PITA Gimp 2.10 roaming folder, make your own somewhere easy to find.
3. Add the folder location to Edit -> Preferences -> Folders -> Fonts
4. Click on a font file to inspect, if required copy it across. When no longer needed delete.
All about taking control (as much as it is possible with MS) of your computer.

I downloaded and extracted the *.ttf files.
There are exactly 3734 of them.
It will take a long time to browse - but it's worth the download.

Try downloading the zip file, and opening the 3 folders I mentioned above and then open up the other folders.

Did that but a couple of years ago
I have all the ttf versions nicely archived on an external USB disk.
I have a catalogue of the fonts in PDF format. (see earlier post)
Just my advice not to install lots of fonts. Choose as and when required and put in your Gimp fonts folder.
