...I tried getting the presets to work with gimp 2.10.6 and they don't work for me.

In Gimp 2.10 the file gimp-curves-tool.settings has a new name GimpCurvesConfig.settings

And a new location C:\Users\your-name\AppData\Roaming\GIMP\2.10\filters

Otherwise it works the same

To save any mishaps, attached the file from the first post, renamed for you.

Unzip and pop in your gimp profile filters folder.

Thank you. :) Where is the Curves folder located?

Go back and read the earlier posts again:

Unzip the GimpCurvesConfig.settings file

In a regular Gimp 2.10, the user profile, and the filters folder.

C:\Users\your-name\AppData\Roaming\GIMP\2.10\filters

If you are using a non-standard portable Gimp 2.10 go to where you normally add resources. filters is the folder between environ and fonts.

You had said that Gimp moved things around, which is why I asked where the curves folder was.
I found the filters folder and when I had the curves presets, I added them to the curves folder and nothing worked. How ever, I have them working now when I manually updated the GimpCurvesConfig.settings file with the presets and the presets now work.

I am pleased you have something working, but correctly goes like this.

The presets go in the filters folder.

An edited curve can be exported to the curves folder and imported at some later date.

Thank you. :) Next time I will just place the files in the filters, rather than adding them manually to the file itself and see how that works.

This is strange. I just (finally) downloaded the updated config file, extracted it to the Filters folder, and I have nothing. Clearly it works, based on the screenshot above. So I don't know why the presets aren't showing up in the dropdown.

You done the following so strange. Who knows with Windows. This in a Win10 (VM), regular Gimp 2.10.8

Collection is un-zipped
In the filter folder
Properties as screenshot.

Yup. Even got a message saying that file already existed. So now I'm wondering if there wasn't some sort of issue overwriting it. I can't check at the moment because it appears my computer has died

These were just warning signs of its demise. Many application troubles can be traced to filesystem problems which themselves can be due to bugs or hard disk malfunctions. Best course of action is, in that order:

- run a filesystem check/fix utility (chkdsk, on Windows...)
- if that fails, backup what you can, reformat/reinstall, restore
- if that fails, replace the hard disk/SSD
- if that fails, replace the computer/motherboard

I have a black screen, can't even access the BIOS. CPU and motherboard were just swapped a couple months ago. No idea what the problem is.

Got the presets fixed. For some reason it didn't overwrite the existing file when I extracted it. So I extracted it, then copied/pasted the contents into the existing file.
