Brilliant steven8 - Rod, when you say screen, I wondered, can I make the actual screen any size or is that dictated by GIMP? Here's my screen size.

Actually what i said was
Quote:
I like to keep the splash images sizes about 2/3rds of my screen

I like to keep my splashes small enough to see everything initializing/loading. :)

You mentioned before "any size" for splashes and i was just saying that huge images will not shrink down. They will load as a splash at their full size. So be careful how large you make your splashes. :bigthup

That was all i meant.

I actually created one splash that looked like it was transparent. I simply took a screenshot of my desktop so when i created the splash it had parts of the desktop in it so it looked like it was loading a transparent splash. :)

Gotcha Rod, although...looking at your desktop from the other thread I still wonder if your start up screen is larger than mine or is it a standard, fixed size?

Here's my most recent Gimp Splash Screen.
With 2.8.18 added,
which replaces the 2.8.16 Gimp Splash Screen.

Also the text box,
(Lower Center of Splash).
Has been slightly altered.
To better fit the text that appears during loading.

Wallace, is that a monitor screen for computers, or a tv set on the wall? But then, without my glasses I could use one that size.

It's my entire setup.
Monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers ect.
The monitor isn't on the wall.
It's on a 4 inch riser that I made myself, out of plywood and black leather.
Here's a picture of my DIY plywood and black leather monitor riser.

I also installed oragen led lighting onto the monitor.

And here's a picture of my keyboard.

Thanks Wallace. Your background shot is interesting. Some kind of Fractal?

If you mean my desktop wallpaper, yes it's a fractal image.

The orange led lights I installed onto my monitor look really nice,
especially when the overhead light is switched off at night.
The color adds extra flavor to my living space,
which I really enjoy.
Not everything has to be purple,
I also like orange too.

I know of Mandelbrot,
but I've never tried it.
The wallpaper I currently have,
was only slightly modified by me and was obtained from the link below.

Thanks for the link Wallace :tyspin I now have a wallpaper that reminds me of a scene in "Forbidden Planet" as it appears to be partly transparent and is a top down shot. It may give me Vertigo after a while

I'm thinking,
that this splash might needs something to the right of the "P",
above Wilber's head?
:puzzled

Feel free to download the xcf file and add something in this area if you like.
