I could not find a thread in resources for Splash Screens. It seems several people make Splashes and hopefully will contribute. It would also help those of us that are just beginning to make them. Wallace, I know you have made yours available in another thread but I hope you will post them here to make them easier to find. They are artistic and beautiful!
Here is my first attempt at making a Splash Screen:

I really like that one Rod. Did you use a displacement map or warp filter to arrange your mesh so nicely?

Thank you Wallace, for adding your Splashes to the Resources Forum.

All very lovely splashes Larry.

In Windows you find it here. Just change it out with one you name the same.
C:\Program Files\GIMP 2\share\gimp\2.0\images

I imagine in Linux its something similar.

Better off to place it in a NEW folder named "splashes" in your .gimp-2.8/ directory.
If it is the only one and is named the same, GIMP will load it all the time.

IF you want different splashes to load randomly just place any image in that "splashes" folder and GIMP will load them randomly. They can be named anything in this case.

That's a lovely splash Pat. I simply put my artwork (all sizes) Portfolio in the splash folder I created and they show at random on start-up perfectly. :yes

I like to keep the splash images sizes about 2/3rds of my screen so i can watch the startup process. :)

Brilliant steven8 - Rod, when you say screen, I wondered, can I make the actual screen any size or is that dictated by GIMP? Here's my screen size.

Love that Halloween Splash, Steven! Thanks for sharing.

RJKD: Yours looks colorful and intricate. Rod says he keeps his about 2/3 rds of his screen. I will have to experiment with that to see what I like.
