From Wallace's swatch to sallyanne's circle. I took sallyanne's circle, made a PPM Gimpressionist brush of it. Applied it to one of my photos of a view from Afton Mountain in Central Virginia, and got a (pardon) reasonable digital pointalism outcome. Lightened with Irfanview's Auto Adjust Colors -- I haven't yet found a Gimp blip that I like as well. The full image is reduced here to desktop web browsing size. The detail of the blue building is at 100%.

It's not often I actually like what I do with digital imaging, but I do like this. So, Wallace, and sallyanne, thank you for your generosity.

Wallace, if we have small pictures of each color such as the first one in post #9, how do we turn that into a palette?

I looked in the tutorial index,
for a tutorial on how to make a color palette,
but didn't find one.

Perhaps I should make a tutorial on this,
what do you think?

Wallace, I think a tutorial for making a palette would be very useful. I did something similar but that was long ago and I have not been able to find the instructions. When you have time, please do one. Thank you in advance

Checked that site out. I have them all as pallettes for gimp in my dropbox. Link is https://www.dropbox.com/sh/y855ri0pbrqx ... GmWYa?dl=0
I think the only ones I didn't do was black palles and white pallettes and of course the grey ;)

I wonder if people would have any use for a plug-in that reads samples from a possible grid (just sample center of grid) and you specify X-tiles and Y-tiles.
For example with this Benjamin Moore palette image, you just input 5 x 5 and it'll sample centers of grid-tiles and Create a Palette out of the samples.

Maybe.
Some of the palettes have numbers inside the color swatch itself.
Could this be a problem?
I'm sure that there's other color palettes that don't have numbers.

But a sample from center of grid will not be affected by numbers since numbers are located bottom or close to edge of tile.

Like this palette below.
The numbers are on the colors.

but the plug-in would only sample a small area (shown here where the dots generally are).
