I was cruising around the internet and came across a PS layer style offered by this guy in the pic below, and decided to use it for a pattern that cold be used in GIMP. I downloaded the file and Rod was Kind enough to convert it for me.

Image

This is what it looked like after it was converted to a jpeg. Kinda blurry and dull looking.

I used Unsharp mask to raise the definition and adjusted the Levels to get this.

I carefully cropped it to make a pattern out of the center 9 segments and saved it as a .pat file. which I have attached.

After I tested the pattern, I decided to make something to show how it can be used and this is what I ended up with. I think it works very well. I scaled it to use in the text but used it full size with a little G'MIC Perspective for the background.

Enjoy!

I went to the site and downloaded the style Drac; looks promising. When I saved a result, it was scaled down greatly from yours so I figure you must of scaled your result up. Anyway, thanks for the link; do (very rarely) play with PS styles so now I have an extra one for that use. :)

Hope you don't mind a little addition stuff Drac. Used the rarely used Enlarge and Sharpen (Resynthesizer) Script-fu to increase it to 250X250 (multiple smaller passes) and then blended some additional textures in. Yes, it's seamless (it's my side specialty; lol). :)

Rod, no - thank you for converting it for me.

Lyle - Don't mind at all. Just thought it looked cool and wanted to make something out of it that was usable in gimp. Knock your lights out!
