Hi Molly,

Since it's a theme without any executables, it does not matter. You can use it anywhere. :)

Partha

It does use the libpixmap.dll file :)

That's not a problem. On Fedora, it's probably a system file already (libpixmap.so). So you should be good to go. As long as you are not packaging your own DLLs along with the theme, it should not matter. DLLs only work on Windows. They have to be converted to shared objects (.so files) for Linux/Unix and dylibs for Macs.

Rod, thanks for the Curve Window screenshot. Most dark themes have a problem right there since the histogram is not visible. Unfortunately your screenshot is with an empty image :(, but I get the picture. :)

For those of you who wish to replace the black text with something you can see better...do this
Open the gtkrc file in your Notepad ++ program.
Go to line # 596 and replace that line with this code
     fg[NORMAL]               = "#FFFFFF"

That makes the text much easier to see on the dialogs and the interface.

Rod. I certainly don't know anything about coding or how to create something so cool like this but I would like to know something. When I downloaded the theme I noticed the "bg.png" in the list and it appears that this is what the theme background is based on. Could that simply be changed out to another background of choice, say a different metallic background png with the same dimensions? I think you know where I'm going with this one.

Bonjour,

@Draconian
You can change bg.png by any other pattern, the size does not matter.

If you want to change the pattern name, you can edit the file "gtkrc" and replace bg.png by the name of your pattern.

Thanks, samj. Looks like I have some experimenting to do. I have been trying to figure out how to combine a dark theme like Aurora Midnight with the glossy buttons and bars like the OSX theme but I wouldn't have a clue how to do it.

Is there a way to change out the buttons and bars as well? This would be very usefull to know how to alter them if it was just a matter of changing out the png files but I'm guessing buttons and bars are different.

@Draconian

I think the best is to experiment.
In the file "gtkrc" all the changes to the images begin with #samj#

Generally these changes are on two lines:
Line 1 = old image
Line 2 = image used
To inhibit the operation of a line, # must be placed at the beginning of this line (# Indicates the beginning of a comment).

To understand the operation, I recommend starting with images of solid colors and place comments on the effect obtained.

Yeah, that part was sort of a no brainer. I just tried to get yours to work but it doesn't show up in the Gimp Theme Selector. I put it in the Themes folder with all the others C:\Program Files\Gimp-2.0\share\themes or am I supposed to put it in the 2.6 user folder? Both paths are shown in preferences\folders so I don't see a difference except that the theme selector only reads from the 2.0 folder doesn't it?
