Wasn't sure whether I should post this in this thread or not, So Tux if you would like to move it over then feel free.

I have been playing around with creating Maps and noticed that there wasn't any solid colour options, I tried with the environment map generator but the results kept coming out very light, So I tried a rehash of my glossy ball idea and have managed to achieve some pleasing results.

1. Download the attached XCF file and open with Gimp
2. Select your chosen colour and fill the layer named "Colour" should be locked so it will only fill the circle.

3. Then export your result as a png or jpg file.
4. run the Bevel Reflect Logo Script and select your newly saved file as the map.

More info on the Script can be found here

Here are just some of my results, as you can see white and black both work equally as good.

Enjoy

Hearty

I think this is a great idea & technique for solid color maps. The results look great. :yes

I think it would fit fine with the other sharing thread, but it might be better to just leave this as a stand alone thread, and post a link to it from the sharing thread. Whatever you think is best, though.

Nice job, He4rty. :bigthup

There are about 9 or 10 solid color maps in this thread OP (K1 maps and Blender generated matcaps).

Updated the first post to included a newer version of the map xcf, its basically the same as before except I have added a mask to the top layer to remove some unwanted artefacts.

Thanks for the update, he4rty. These solid color maps produce a smooth result with no unwanted artifacts. I can just rotate for light direction. :bigthup
