SauLgoode made a cool suggestion in this thread:

saulgoode wrote:
My concept is to have a set of emoticons representing all of GIMP's Tools so that when posting tutorials or helping somebody on the forums, you can say something like "Double-click on the Path Tool :pathtool in the Toolbox and choose the Polygonal option."

Not sure if we may implement it at Gimptalk (that depend from our ,always busy, CEO ) but i tought could be a nice suggestion for this site too:

And since we don't fear cuncorrence (Gimp support sides in my vision should support each other not compete...and i believe you share my vision ) i pass the suggestion

With a added tip adapted for this side...under "smilies" "view more smilies" just add "Gimp tool icons "

Are those tool icons available somewhere in the Gimp program? Is there a website they can be found at?

I can get them for you. A Dutch gimp website has the tool icons as smileys. I downloaded them all once. Think I still have them. I could zip up up and upload it to here. Would you prefer .zip or 7zip?

The idea would be more then upload here, add the icon to the smilies available at left of the message field when composing new messages

So they may quickly inserted when posting/replying to help question or used in tutorial to avoid ambiguities

I know PC, but O wondered where she could get them. So I let her know I happen to have them. :)

Don't know if this is what you have in mind....

Thanks fencepost. I nabbed those in a hurry. Also, Jolie, would love to have the zipped file (.zip)

I started working on separating them. Have 8 finished so far. Don't think I have to go any farther though with all the help here. :-D

Here are my 8 finished ones. Already had them in an image. Wanted them critiqued before continuing.

Just a few to see what they look like. The rest should be all in the zip file.

The credit goes to whoever made this these into separate images. I don't know who that is.

Here is the pack of Gimp tool icons I've made. I have also included icons for the various options in the Toolbox Options plus the ones at the bottom of the layers window.

Some are too large to have the gray background and borders. All the bordered icons have _b in the file name. There are separate folders in the zipped file of bordered and non-bordered icons.

Is there any reason they have to have gray a backgound? When I hover my mouse over the icons in gimp, it looks like they flip to a lighter background with a black border around it.

Jolie's icons don't have a gray background.

So what's the gameplan?

Are you going to add those to the smiles section on the left?

Moi? I think we should have a vote first as to what style icons are wanted, eh?
