For about 3 months now I've been using 2.10.4 (not the portable).
Imagine my surprise when I started the program one morning and
2.10.6 booted up.
So my question is, do I really want automatic upgrades? and
if the answer is no, how do I stop it?

Pro's and con's please.
Thanks.

Really, on Windows? It would be a step backwards on Windows, on Linux you don't see a thing because it...just....works.
I wouldn't call 2.10.4 to 2.10.6 upgrade though, when you switch from 2.8 to 2.10 that's upgrade in my opinion.
Windows can't update even itself correctly, we have one Win10 machine at work that I unfortunately have to touch now and then.
Every time after Windows update need to disable the fast start up option because it turns back on, W-T-F?
And the computer won't shut down if it's on, it reboots immediately.

Nidhogg:
I agree with you regarding Windows. I have Windows 8.1
and I'm never getting 10 if I can help it. Interesting comment
you made regarding 2.10.4 to 2.10.6 not an upgrade.
I did lose one "filters" tool that I used a lot when 2.10.6 came up.
Not a big deal however. I was just surprised that the version changed
automatically. Not sure if that's good or bad. Would like to hear from
someone regarding that. Thanks for commenting.

Maybe it wasn't GIMP itself that upgraded, but your anti-virus software.
Some do that. When I was still on Windows .. after an upgrade of Kaspersky I noticed that it started to
upgrade all my software without asking. Wasn't really happy about that. I prefer to be asked first and take the decision myself.

That's interesting. I didn't know that Anti-virus software could upgrade anything regarding "other" software.
My AV software is "Vipre." I've been using that for years and it never upgraded any other software on my system.
Interesting thought however. Thanks for the input.
