Wed Nov 06, 2019 3:08 pm

Hello there everyone. Image

Recently,
(as of the 5th of Nov 2019).
GC has been experiencing connectivity issues.
You may have seen any one of these error message below,
when attempting to connect to the forum.
As it stand now.
I have contacted Omega about this issue and this is his reply.
I quote:
" Thank you for the information. Gimp Chat should be up today."

I will need to continue to monitor this.
Also, I would appreciate any reports of connection issues,
that anyone might encounter.

GimpChat has been loading OK from here in the Southern hemisphere. These problems can also be caused by domain name servers. (DNS servers)

Tas_mania - things may have been OK from the idyllic 'Apple Isle' :) but yesterday mainland Oz and South Africa certainly suffered these issues. Understand what you say about the DNS server implications. Let us just hope the problem has been fixed for good!

It was a short outage,
but lets keep our eyes on things and our fingers crossed.

Just when you think you're on solid ground.

I'm happy to have GC back.
This site means a lot to me.
So much so,
that I was thinking of trying to purchase the domain.
Unfortunately,
I'm not in a financial position.
Were I can afford such a purchase.

The figure/amount of worth,
was obtained from the website worth of web.com.

Grossly overestimated IMHO. A few thousands at best.

Yes over for sure, still not in my ballpark.

I can't recall what it sold for,
but it wasn't in the ten's of thousands.

Maybe the members could start a "go fund me" for it. There is too much good information on here to be lost.

Most of it is in the internet archive site.

That's a nice idea sallyanne and also one that I've contemplated.
However, there's a lot more evolved.
I wish it were as simple as just raising the funds.

I firmly believe, that GC would have been better off.
With an owner who had at least a passing interested in Gimp.
But we all know,
that this isn't how things generally pan out on the interwebs.

As ofnuts has already mentioned.
All the info will and is available via the internet archive.

Things remain as they are,
for now any way.
Let's all enjoy GC while it's still around.
