Um... No, it's not its meaning, the problem is to not be able to upload an image before having posted 5 posts, I felt the same way and I almost gave up as usually after introducing yourself on a forum you can upload an image on your second post, or the third one if you did not introduced yourself OR you did not spent time reading 1 or 2 posts just to unlock 1 or 2 badges, but waiting 5 posts... yeah I did felt

I don't see the justification for this rule. Over on Gimp-Forum we have no such restriction(*) and I have never seen image abuse. Restricting external links in the first posts, why not, but attachments are local.
(*) Given that our main purpose is to answer questions, and that help is much more to the point if the OPs can show their images, this would be counter-productive.

Out of curiosity, from who, from what? Can you elaborate?
in comparison on a photograph's forum, you can post an image from your first post... and here you have an "Art" section...
So I would like to understand why not being able to post an image for 5 posts will safeguard GC?Wallace wrote:The rule stands.
Does it mean, it's not an open topic/subject?
Yes, I'm a newbie here, but I'm too old to be satisfied with a "because it's like that", the fact is I like to check the math , oh and I said "I'm too old" I'm still under 60yo, though

For the reason mentioned above.

May be not zero post, but 3 posts? Would you give it a try for few weeks or until you've forgotten you did setup GC with 3 posts?
No worries, this was my last question about this topic, I will not come back to it, whatever your decision will be, and I hope that I was not a "piece of work" during this topic (if so please tell me), I was just advocating for the newcomers
(I'm only speaking about being able to upload pictures after 3 posts, not about external links which are a way more sensible subject)
In all cases, thanks a lot for your time and patience

Originally this was the idea.
This setting can of course be amended to zero posts required,
but I'm reluctant to do so.
For the reason mentioned above.

In 10 years of Gimp forum moderation (on several sites...) I have never seen a spam with images. and if I were to spam that way I would put a link to an image on a server of mine so I can count the hits. Forbidding links is what keeps these guys away(*).
This said, current spamming levels in forums are way below what they were 10 years ago. It is much more efficient to spam social networks.
(*) In the GF logs, I still see a couple of users per week that ring one or more spammer alarms (IP address, user names, emails) but they don't post anything, likely because their attempts were rejected (links, and some key words).

Most sites would be like, "It's our policy and if you don't like it you know where the exit can be located."
Sites don't create rules so their users can tell them they know a better way.
