Abstract Art by Discovery out of Geometric/Basic Shapes

Sun Jul 16, 2023 5:01 pm

The idea is from an old fractal program I used to use where you're shown a grid of 9 squares of variations and you pick one to see it evolve from there and then you're another 9 and so on down the evolution path this cuts down the number of choices you have to make out of a huge possible number of combinations.
I copied-cat or copycat-ed the same method and applied it to this simple program
You simply choose an element out of Solid Rectangle, Hollow Rectangle, Solid Circle, Hollow Circle, Solid Triangle, Hollow Triangle, or a Line.
Then it shows you 16 variations all in black color.
You choose one or if you'd like to see you just click Generate again and again after you click on one, it now draws your chosen one in 16 random colors. You choose a color or keep clicking generate until you see a color you like and click that one.
At this step if you haven't chosen multiple generates you already chose 1 out of 256 (16^2) combinations.
If you repeat this for even just 6 shape/color combinations you already have something that you likely liked most out of 2.8147498e+14
Which is a huge number of combinations.
When you're happy just zoom out to see large canvas drawn on bottom to right click and save as image or copy image.
That's it.

Here are a few pieces I chose

And then I bumped map using a generated texture and displaced map, rotated 90 displaced map again then rotated it back and have this

I plan to alter this program to allow user to choose from elements which are abstract paint splatters (or instead of choosing it just random picks one) or both. This would be much cooler I think than geometric shapes.
