This GC post appeared as a further info suggestion for today's "blinds" post that was on another topic entirely.

The link to the 2015 website/article is still active and, in my opinion, certainly deserves a look by any more recent GIMPersons who may have missed the original post.

There is no description of how he was doing it. The images of people are static images with a transparent animated overlay that forms the gif.
I like the second one where the hair moves. Thanks for bringing it back from the vault.
