If anyone has Vista SP2 and applies updates regularly could you check if you have SMIPI.DLL in your Windows\System32 directory. You probably won't be able to search for it, you just have to look in the directory using Explorer.

I'm trying to resolve a problem on my PC where updates won't install because files "have become corrupt or missing". I'm tracking through old MS support threads and SMIPI.DLL is mentioned. I don't have it on my machine but suspect it isn't required by Vista anymore.

Thanks in advance for any help:)

That would have been my second choice Z. Both are great sites for just about any problem you may encounter. Knowledgeable and experienced folks on both sites.
