Interestingly, here in Australia the NBN (national broadband) doesn't let you choose your own DNS server. That's so the gov can keep everybody's usage data for 2 years. In the past I used google dns servers because they resolved faster than tel$tras. The hosts file edits lets you connect to a remote host directly. Just sayin :)


There are other ways now.

I can run it through my VPN, and it works fine. Adding the address in the host file didn't work for me.

Yesterday OpenDNS worked but Cloudflare's DNS did; today it's the opposite. Weird. Hope all the DNS update soon. Not sure who is causing the fake site to show; they should be sued. lol
