We already have a flowers of Spring thread so thought I would start one for the Fall.

First one is, of course, a Surprise Lilly. These gems came up every year even during our decades long severe drought. Last few years it's been quite rainy and, needless to say, I have plenty that came up in my yard this year. I did tweak the colors some; better to take these after a rain storm. :)

Wow; wonderful bouquets Ella Louise. Yeah; surprise lilies come up in the spring as just think leaves, they they appear to die, but, in the fall, they come back as just the red stalked flowers. Very strange plant indeed. :)

Very beautiful red lily Lyle. I don't think I have ever seen one that color before.

Sallyanne, I love the asters, and envy you that you have summer ahead of you.

Great idea for a thread. Out here on the prairie, sunflowers and asters are still gettin' it done.

Tithonia, SOC

Just took this one (like just a few minutes ago); not as vivid as they were a few weeks ago, but still, these Mexican Sunflowers are the epiphany of Fall Flowers. They attract hummingbirds too. Open the image for the EXIF. :)

I don't have too much left and I should have taken a picture of these before they were too far gone. In the early evening when they sun is low, they are beautiful, just a mass of red along the fence.

Folks sometimes cringe at Golden Rods but I think this is among the prettiest flowers there are. Yes, had to enhance the original dungy capture (retoucher I am; not a photog. lol). Took the original capture back in Nov. 2012. :)
