Sorry about your Dad Sallyanne. Never heard of Australia Day. Is that supposedly the day you broke final ties with England like Canada did back in, I believe, the 1970s?

For "England" please substitute "Great Britain" or "United Kingdom" .. the Welsh, Scots and (some) Northern Irish get rather upset when you non-Brits refer to Britain as "England" (as though they don't exist!).

For clarity:
Britain = Great Britain = United Kingdom (of Great Britain) = England + Scotland + Wales + Northern Ireland.

Best just to use "UK" for short!

Didn't mean to offend. I do have a tendency to associate England with Great Britain/UK. :)

No offence taken (by me!). It's the Welsh, some Scots and some Northern Irish who get p*ssed off when people refer to Britain as "England".

I stand by the principle of self-determination: that all humankind should have the right to choose for themselves how they wish to be governed.

Anyway, happy Oz Day, Ozzies!

Typical Aussie Australian Day starts with cold beer and burn't snags around the BBQ followed
by a quick trip to the BCG (backyard cricket ground) chanting Lilleee! and Hoggeee! for beer and cricket
then retire to the lounge to watch Cricket and drink more beer

and they say we're crazy

Ahh; sort of like foundation day but much more significant then Columbus day is for US (now sort of a forgotten day, but it is a day off work for many here; lol). Thanks for the info. :)

Thanx everyone.
This little Aussie just got her new bed all put together. At least I have something on Australia day.
Thought I was gonna have a comfy chair to relax in but only part of it was delivered yesterday. Hopefully tomorrow.
Image oops forgot to make it smaller
One of my girls came around and put it together for me. Her daughter jumped all over it after it was made and before I took this photo.
