So i am sitting at my kitchen table yesterday and suddenly everything starts shaking. Scared the crap out of my dogs. Pretty weird to get a 4.2 in Michigan like that.

Hey, it's us guys out here on the Pacific Coast that are supposed to have earthquakes. You midwesterners are supposed to be safer earthquakewise.

Kind of understand Rod. We don't get them very often and even small tremors scare the hell out of me.
We haven't had a major one (5.6) since 1954 and are due for another.

I wonder if it's due to fraqing? Not sure they do so in Michigan though. Still, there's a lot of faults that appear to be inactive but over geologic time not. We had one here in Alabama in the 1800s as I understand the story.

I don't think frakking would set off an earthquake, I think most people are afraid it would allow stuff to get into the water.

I don't know. Hydraulic fracturing has been blamed as cause for some sink holes i think.Not sure about quakes but i wouldn't doubt it.This one was under the ground about 3.5 - 5 kilometers. I guess folks as far as Indiana felt it too.
I actually heard and felt it. A very low rumble like a train in the distance. Last one i believe in Michigan was farther North and created a big split in the earth. It's the first one i have ever experienced in my 51 years of living here.
A friend of mine was working at the local liquor store Saturday , and when the quake hit all the bottles were moving on the shelves.
