I rarely have red meat these days and have only made this twice this year so far

Slow cooked (about 9 hours) meat and veg with only half cup water. Smelled lovely as I came in the door tonight. Already been into it too.

Wish I could smell the beef stew Sallyanne. Only recently have I even found a relatively cheap (not cheap mind you) source of good hamburger (Freshmarket has it for $2.99/lb only on Tuesdays) so started eating hamburger again. Was really getting tired of chicken. lol

sallyanne: yummmmm! i can almost smell it all the way to Sweden :). i so envy you that slow cooker, i can't possibly aafford one. i do however have a roman pot, which i haven't used in ages, and that sometimes gives similar results to the slow cooker.

Yeah I can't afford one either. Got it for a mother's day pressie. (perks of being a mother :) )
I used to use a big pot and just cook slowly

sallyanne: oh dang, i should have got some children! :hehe seems you have very kind and caring children, sallyanne, i usually send my mum a card and phone her, but that's about it. in sweden it's not too late yet, though, so maybe i can do better this year!
