Got the link from Slashdot; looks interesting. It's open source too so maybe we will see it in GIMP soon. :)

Looks impressive.
That's great news for all those image file hoarders out there and for the "average" image file users as well.

I did post this same thread at DPR and someone there pointed out that this format doesn't yet support embedded metadata (EXIF; etc.). That's a serious omission if you asked me. That has to be addressed if they want this format to be a serious contender. :)

It's still in early development, the missing ToDo List features are a non-issue. They clearly say the source they're releasing now is in progress, so obviously not complete. For now you can probably drive it around the block but you'll be sitting on an apple box. :hehe

Sorry for gravedigging this thread, but I just wanted to say:

FLIF now does support embedded metadata (Exif, XMP, ICC color profiles). It is supported by ExifTool too.

As the main author of FLIF, and a huge fan of GIMP since the v0.99 days, I would love to see GIMP support for FLIF! Let me know if I can help in any way with that (I'm not familiar with the GIMP codebase though).

Thanks for the info; is there a GIMP plugin that allows you to export (and of course open) to FLIF format, Jon? :)
