I read through it and I agree, that's indeed fascinating! The concept of the commercial scribe selling their "wares" by displaying a menu of font choices is very interesting. I also much prefer the oldest exemplified script/font of the ones exemplified ("Caroline Miniscule") which actually looks pretty "modern" and easy to read compared to what came later.

I agree, that is fascinating. Who would ever have thought that they had actual fonts (scripts) that they used to print (by hand) manuscripts. I more or less just figured they wrote in their own handwritings.

Fonts are definitely interesting and to think they evolved before the printing press. Wow.

Having a very standard handwriting is still mandatory in some professions. Ask any primary school teacher.
