I just received this email from Shannon, O's (Oregonian's) daughter. As it says in the email she stated it is okay for me to share this news with all her gimper friends and has also given permission for anyone to email her at shan.shahan@gmail.com

Hi Molly,

I wanted to give you an update on Mom. She is back in the hospital and was just transferred out of ICU. The medication she is taking for the cancer has made her very sick. They thought she might have pneumonia again, but all of her tests are negative. Unfortunately, she is having a very hard time breathing and not doing all that well.

She doesn't have her laptop or tablet with her, so she won't be answering any emails or posts. She honestly barely has the energy to sit up straight.

Feel free to share this with the folks on the forum and you can pass along my email address to anyone who wants to get updates and/or pass on well wishes. I would log on, but quite frankly I just don't remember what email address or my password.

Shannon

Please folks, for all the people who know O from the forum, she would be glad to hear from you

Molly

Thanks for the update. Do recall that she was sick but had no idea it was about cancer. I have my own ideas about cancer having seen my Dad suffer from it twice (i.e., I've done a lot of research and know there have been plenty of folks cured outside of the big pharma cabal). Anyway, please send my regards to O. Wish her complete recovery and soon.

edit:

Forgot to add that it was O that recruited me to GIMPChat in the first place many many years ago now. GIMPTalk use to be my GIMP portal. :)

I watched my Dad go through cancer 7 times now. I wouldn't want anyone to go through that awful sickness. My thought and prayers are with O also. I will also email her best wishes soon.

To my friends on Gimp Chat

I just received more devastating news from Shannon that her mom Tonya "O" passed away last night surrounded by her family.

Please let her family know how much she was loved and missed by OUR Gimp Family

Shannons email below

Today, 12:07 PMYou

I just wanted to update you. Mom passed away peacefully late last night. She was surrounded by her family.

I have talked to Scott, but have not had time to respond to all of the other emails that I have received. Yesterday ended up being a quite a day.

Please thank everyone for all of their thoughts, prayers and well wishes. They were all received and appreciated.

Thank you for being mom's friend and for helping get the information out.

Shannon

Very sad to hear. I really liked "O". She was very helpful when I first joined the forum. Had a good sense of humor. She will be greatly missed. I sent a condolence email to Shannon.

D(expletive)mn; sad news indeed. Heart's out to O's family for sure. I hate growing old and seeing good folks pass. Still I know there's a better place for them and all, but the flesh is indeed weak and we have to suffer the loss of these good people. Take care, O; you definitely will be missed for sure.

It seemed so obvious to see Oregonian around here.
To see appear her characteristic letter O.
Her always encouraging and kind words.
I can hardly believe she will never join the forum again.

I wrote an email to Shannon.

The same for me, sallyanne.
There are several people who doesn't come here any more, Dalia, Esper, Akros, Marcello, Carlos, Pirate541... and so on.
I hope they are all doing well.

I just don't have any words. A great friend that will be greatly missed every day. I will miss her different signature O's that she displayed for all of us to enjoy. She was so talented and had a beautiful heart. She was always so helpful, and considerate to everyone here. She asked me to become a Global Mod for the forum back in 2010. I feel when i left that job in 2016 i let her down somewhat. It is always sad to see your friends pass. Thank you for taking the time to let us all know and my prayers are always with you all.

Such beautiful thoughts & sentiments from everyone.

GIMP Chat would have never existed if it had not been for O. She's the person who actually grew this site from the ground up. I only became involved after the forum had grown to the point where O needed help, and she wanted to step back a little. It's hard for me to imagine no longer being able to chat with her, almost daily, on jabber.

I will leave this here for her.

Very sad news. She was still contributing here just recently. Some of the earlier founders and members have 'immortality' status in my eyes. I call them 'the immortals'.
