Heard some folk are charging $5 grand for one. I don't think so. I might try to build one but mechanical talent I don't have. lol

Now if this can be simulated in GIMP, that would be cool; regardless, I did some Amazon digging and below's a list (picture only; don't want to get an advertise strike; lol) of items I think I will need to accomplish this goal. :)

Way too much work, Kevin, but enjoyed the video. Rather actually buy the platonic solid assembled and then work with the glass already cut. My only problem is removing the glass to apply the film. Was wondering if I can just spray the inside with metallic paint (single layer so it will be both reflective and refractive) and be done with it. lol

Anyway, as as lazy I am, may not actually build one; time will tell. lol

:)

Thanks for posting a video on this contraption Lyle. I've made similar effects using mandelbulber. I made iridescent tubes in a video last year and recently I made a revolving polyhedra. I will try and combine the two effects. The moving lights are hard to do I think.
Never seen a colored strobe effect in any graphics software :)

Look forward to your attempt, Tas. I emailed my sister the BOM and she said she wants to buy me all this stuff for my Christmas present. Told her she shouldn't be wasting her money since it's likely I won't do it anyway since, in the end, I probably would get flustered from failure. lololol

I wonder if somehow GIMP's symmetric painting could be use; don't think it can handle reflections, though (or perspectives). :)
