Hi gentle folk of Gimp Chat...figured it was time I put in another appearance...its been a long while and I have been having eye issues so tend to limit my screen access quite a lot these days. But I am still loyal to GIMP and all of its wonderful capabilities...using it now for probably around a decade on a mac computer with good success for myself. I have recently updated my main computer to Catalina and am now using GIMP 2.10.22 with some success but have a few questions....I noticed that the standard version is not equipped with GMIC so I am assuming that I have to add it independently. Although it does come with McGimp from Partha. Both varieties of GIMP for Mac have different qualities that I am a want to use but felt it would be good to have it all in one version. Currently I have open GIMP 2.10.22 with no GMIC added and if I close that and then force open McGimp, which by the way is not verified by Apple for some reason, (been using it on and off for years as a preferred version)..it has GMIC added to it...Can one of the geeky people here tell me if I can add GMIC to the standard version of GIMP and if so where I can get it from please. I also noticed that with both versions, there are legacy scripts which dont work in any case, so why are they allowed to be there and should I be deleting those from my script folder. Thanks in advance....as for my eyes, in repair mode at the moment and lucky the Drs were able to repair a macular hole and torn retina in one eye with the other still at high risk....~Pauline

Happy to find you here once again.

Sorry that I'm not a Mac user and can't offer any insight toward installing G'MIC.
However, here is the link to the G'MIC website below.

Thanks Wallace, I may just have a play with one of the versions and see if I can get it happening..I do remember in the early days of being part of this forum, writing a tutorial for some things mac and maybe I might have done something...but for now I will use Partha's version...McGIMP which does have GMIC. I was surprised it wasnt in the Open Source version....So far I have been happy with McGIMP but I find the tool icons hard to distinguish.

Hello Pauline, Good to see you on the board again.
Can't you change your theme in your McGimp to make the tool icons larger or easier to see. I know in the version I have (for windows) it has many options

Cool to see you post again Pauline. Happy New Year to you. Yes; G'MIC's independent of GIMP so unless you get a special compiled stand-a-lone version of GIMP that packages G'MIC with it, you have to go to G'MIC's main site or depend on a 3rd party to compile G'MIC for Macs. :)

Thanks Lyle. I actually went to the G'MIC site last night and they are saying they havent been able to get it done as yet.
So I will be using Partha's version for sure as it comes with G'MIC already. I am a bit of a gypsy with GIMP though and
I find that each version has its own particular values for me so will probably end up switching between the two versions.
I am very grateful to Partha for the work he has done over the years in making GIMP easier for us Mac users. :gimp

Actually I had an idea that I had written a tutorial for adding G'MIC to the mac version of GIMP nearly 10 years ago...I just found it in the tutorials link. I might give that a go if I can find a suitable version.

Sorry, I forgot to remove my sig when I deleted my Soundcloud account. Since I have been on the internet, I feel like I have given too much of my personal identity away and I feel like I am losing who I am. I was actually quite a private person before I discovered the net and I prefer it that way. Thank you for your interest. :)
