Obviously the kangaroos are not on holiday, only the humans are

They are probably being fed by people on holidays. We are often followed by one when we walk in the bush and use bennetts wallabys to mow the lawn.
I stopped feeding them last year because I was feeding around 12 a day. I found they like 'pony pellets'. At night we get owls here all the time. I only hear them and rarely see them. They do sleep all day and the two I have seen sleep alone in abandoned quarries.
Something that is obvious to me after living here for over 20 years is humans are trying to destroyed most of the beauty that is all around them. Their best thinking is to destroy more beauty because humans are trapped in a psychological nightmare. Many of them are convinced their delusions are reality.
