I have said this before here, but we are so lucky with Aussie native plants that either flower all year or show up just in winter. Here are some performing right now.

Nature always surprises and amazes us with its beauty in so many aspects.
Knowing how to appreciate and value it is very important too.
Beautiful pictures. Thank you. :tyspin

@Sallyanne - yes the plant photos are from my garden. We have a traditional 1/4 acre block (about 1015 square metres) and some years back now (about 2005), during our last bad drought, I decreased the lawn size significantly and changed the whole garden over from exotic plants (i.e. non Aussie) to an Aussie bush garden. It has a number of pathways through it that do what a professional gardener told me all gardens should do - provide a view of different plant life at each turn.

OOh, Photos please!
I assume this viewtopic.php?f=15&t=18184 is the centre of your garden? You said something about each turn, something different?

Beautiful flowers in your winter garden, OMG :kpix
Is it the hamamelis or Witch-Hazel?
Here in Belgium, it also blooms during winter.

Thanks for the explanation, OMG. I looked up the plants online.
They seem to be typical Australian native plants.

@ Sallyanne - we have recently had a winter holiday in Broken Hill and Sturt's Desert Pea is a favourite there for verge planting in the town centre.

Still winter but closing in on Spring - all my Grevillea shrubs are flowering in profusion now. Also our friendly birdlife (Lorikeet) is enjoying the nectar feast, climbing through the bush, but never showing it's head for the photo.

Well it is still winter, but somewhat warm, and even the little native Dendrobium Orchids are starting to bud and flower.
