While I generally frown upon art being turned into a competition, the Tux Paint project held a contest this summer for kids between the ages of three and twelve, and the results speak for themselves (one of the trademarks of true art):

What fun! Tux Paint is a really cool art application for kids. I no longer have it, but I've had it on my computer and played with it. I recommend it highly.

Just for the record, and for what it's worth: most art competition actually stimulates creativity. It was an actual school competition for "Save the Earth" that turned me on to art, some 40 plus odd years ago. And yes, Save the Earth at that time was focused on eliminating landfills/waste (aka garbage dumps) from the environment.
