Thomas Kinkade was one of my inspirations for pursuing photo to art over a decade ago now. Sad to say that he passed away today; quite a young man too. Tried to fake a painting but still have a lot to learn. Anyway, may you rest in peace Tom; you won't be forgotten.

Oh that is sad...he was one of my favorite artists known as the Painter of Light. He will be sadly missed.

He's one of my favourite artists too. I think his work is incredible! Lyle, If you want to fake a painting, try G'MIC/presets and testing/thin brush smoothing followed by some sharpening.

Though I started out with DAP, I did use more then a few G'MIC (and other) tricks with this result Erisian. Might have pushed the red too hard too, but again, faker I am. :)

I don't think filters will ever emulate painting perfectly. You're just going to have to go to art school. :teeth

Won't happen Erisian; faker I am (and of course lazy too). That's what computers are for. We just nudge and the computer can fill in the voids. ;)

That is very, very sad indeed.
Too young to go for sure. :\

sorry to hear about this...I do love his work, in fact I have several of his paintings done in cross stitch. One is already framed and on the wall, and even though we changed up our room decor, it still fits in with the new colors and styles.
