Just getting back to my all instrumental synthethizer mood and remember a CD (now in storage unfortunately so God only know's where in my storage space it's at now after over 8 years. lol) that I have from Windham Hill called Soul of the Machine. My favorite from this CD is Ayers Rock. Sort of a downer mood with a few surprise wakeups that may startle you. lol

Beautiful. I have a whole collection of "New Age" music that sounds similar. One artist that I can't find in the shops anymore that I used to love was Kitaro. He's done a lot of fantastic synth music.

Have several Kitaro CDs (don't believe in his ancient worship religion of course, but like pure instrumental music, especially synthesizer). One of the last set of CDs that I bought back in the early 2000s I believe was Silk Road (Believe it was a re-release since I just wiki checked it and they first published Silk Road back int he 80s. lol. Haven't bought anything since I lost my Engineering job back in 2002). I don't care too much for the human voice (so wasn't a big fan of Dream CD though I got use to Anderson's song "Lady of Dreams") since it's very rare that a singer can stand without accompaniment instruments (my criteria for a good singer; haven't heard one in a long time to my tastes and standards). The first music I ever purchased from Kitaro was a cassette "Light of the Spirit" for my Walkman while I was in Saudi back in 1992 (one of the mall outlets there as my failing memory recalls; when I got back I did go ahead and purchased the CD of it too since the quality is much better). lol

:)

Kitaro is also one f my favs as well. I know I have at least 5 or 6 of their albums. I really like this one you posted Lyle. Relly mellow, makes me want to go find some papers and something to roll.

funny, but in the 'rolling days', I was never into this kind of music. I was all about Rock and Roll.

What i like mostly of the music of the end of 60 to all 70 was the constant merging...everybody was going for his way be folk, oriental, hard rock, space rock but still everybody was listening the others, sometimes even jamming with the others and at least in EU the audience was the same...somebody could like more heavy guitar riffs, other spacey synthesizers or Hammond organ, ...

But usually without excluding the others, ..one time was Hendrix to play, next the Jethro Tull, or the Hot Tuna, or country or irish folk...everybody with his preference but also with the will to taste everything.

And as the audience so the artist...the Credence Clearwater Revival were doing their Bayou Rock , but in many of their LP was a "experimental" spacey song (i.e "Rude Awaking ), hendrix was often jamming with flute, organ and keyboard,
heavy rockers as Led Zeppelin had always a slow song with space for acoustic instrument

Now everything is caged in its tag...and everything tend to become too obvious, no more surprises...Viking Rock, Metal Massacre,
Folk new age...all become less vital not because are no good musicians but because there is no more merging

So most of "new age" often become too mental, poor of energy,

And symmetrically every Dark (or Gothic , or Viking, Or Epic or..)Metal group will go on, putting more and more speed , thundering guitars , roaring voices screaming in rage.. usually with so absolute predictability to become for me almost soporific
