I posted my first serious painting this morning, i thought it was pretty good for a first time but I guess it wasn't as good as I thought, it didn't get a single comment. I guess I need to work harder on the next one.

@Gms, you didn't leave your sky there long enough for anyone to give you feed back. There are a lot people here on this forum that are on the other side of the world that may not have seen it yet. You should re-post it and sit back, I am sure you will get some feed back on your sky.

I didn't see it, though I'd love to.

saw it, it had a nice canvassy effect. was just flitting through posts before work so didnt feel like commenting. don't worry about comments post because your happy to share your work. ive put stuff on forums that looked pretty awesome to me and had zero apparent interest. you just move on to the next piece. at least your not getting flamed out of town, thats always a good sign!

I was actually going to leave a comment on you work and before I knew it, it was gone. I liked your work a lot. It made me believe (that's what my father used to say). Some strokes were heavier than I would like to see, but it's just me. The only other thing i was going to suggest is to add some object(s) to it, so the whole composition would not seem monotonous and gain a sense of completeness. Why don't you re-post your work?

I know you got yourself Xara. I don't have that luxury but not so long ago I was breezing through the PS tutes and saw a sky-making tutorial. I made an adaptation to GIMP and here's what I got. It's not painting, of course and, by and large, it sucks. But painting is one of many things I can't do.
