i removed some russian spammer yesterday but they always pop out again with different nicks
i suppose they found a way to handle automatically the catcha but may be just a guess

A lack of spam is generally attributable to the diligence of the site's moderators. If you get rid of it quickly then you won't become much of a target. If a spam message gets left up for more than 24 hours then it will become a permanent part of Google's and Yahoo's cache (this is what the spammers hope for) and there will be a surge of spamming for several weeks afterward.

You can usually ban a range of IP addresses...

Besides that Gimp Chat has its own unique type of Captcha. ;)
You have to actually answer questions and those questions change frequently.
Spam here decreased quite a bit after utilizing the new Captcha setup.

SaulGoode is correct though.The quicker you get rid of it the better off you are because of the search engines.
