Watch for this tomorrow.....
Image
A total eclipse of the moon will be visible throughout all of North and Central America on Tuesday morning, the first such eclipse in almost three years.

Weather permitting, observers will begin seeing the moon enter the Earth’s inner shadow, or umbra, at 1:33 a.m. which appears as a red-brown shadow creeping across the bright moon.

:lol Thanks, molly.

I'm what happens if a person watches way too much comedy...

Back in high school (when dinosaurs roamed the earth) my World History teacher told me, "Bob, there's only one top banana in this class - and it's not you!" That only made me work harder at it. :yes

Cool that it's going to be visible on this side of the earth. Not cool is that it is going to be pouring down rain and cloudy here. :hoh

For a second I thought I missed it. I think I've seen maybe 3-4 lunar eclipse's so far, maybe more, but I remember 3. idk why but lunar eclipse's from where I live at, all the violence stops, and it's peaceful so I can't wait.

I heard it only happens every 350+ years (this particular orbit). =)

No. What you are looking at is light reflected back from the surface of the moon, like normal. It is just dimmed by the earth's shadow and reddened by the sunlight passing through and being refracted by earth's atmosphere, just like our sunrises and sunsets.

I've been out to look a couple of times myself but we have thin high-altitude overcast that occasionally breaks, plus it is 19 degrees here in Ohio with a light wind making it about 11-12 degrees. Brr! But glad I could see as much of it as I am.

I saw it, it was pretty cool, nice and peaceful, I had to go outside to see it though, and it was only 30 degrees which its a lot warmer then what it's been.

I'm in New York. All I got was cloud cover so thick I couldn't even see a reflection. An hour before it was clear. :gaah
Major disappointment. We all could have had a lot of fun with those photos.
