Was really fed up with my old artificial tree and couldn't find anything I liked in the shops, so armed with Google and my imagination, went on an ideas spree for a new tree.

Had this idea and managed to purchase the bits required ready made, so here it is.........

The main part of the tree is a 9 tier cupcake stand, all the baubles are delicately balancing on small transparent rings and the main trunk is a shop display cube.

I like it he4rty. Just the right size for me to use. I made one something onto that idea a while back using a glass block they use for shower stalls. I think I hadto take it in to get the holes drilled in the bottom to insert the mini lights and decorations stuff.
I like your idea of adding the tree on top.

Molly, Esper - Thanks for the comments, Some improvements need I think, like glueing the rings onto the baubles and possible a smaller squared box but taller.

he4rty: what a fun and creative idea, he4rty! i'm very much a traditionalist in my own home around christmas, but i love seeing other people thinking new with their decorations :). i wouldn't get a smaller box if i were you, though - i'd get more of those blue lights instead!

:wow That's really cool, and the best thing about it is that you made it yourself.

As a coincidence this popped into my RSS feeds this morning too.
A lot more traditional than yours, but some of you might be curious.

Could be something I might do this year. I better hurry up though, there's not much time left. :bigthup

That is very cool. I blew it up to its largest size and noticed it was crocheted with the same pattern I used with several afghans.

I agree, just fill the box with more lights, and maybe you can put lights in the center tube as well. Blinky lights! Not the kind that all blink at once, but the kind where each one blinks at it's own rate…twinkle lights I guess.

Maybe some chaser lights that create a spiraling drill like effect.:) or if you can keep the cords from tangling placing tree onto top of a spinning turn table lol.
That really is cool though love the Santa topper.

Perhaps, some day, it will be at the Modern Museum of Art.
