Here are some pics I just took. This isn't snow on the branches, it is ice. Lots of big branches down but haven't been around the rest of the city to see what all the damage is but it isn't over yet.

Looks like a big portion of the Northern US & Canada is getting slammed with that Ice storm.

It's 70+ Degrees here today.

Nice photos Molly, hopefully things don't get as bad as 1998.

Cool pictures, Molly. Thanks for sharing. I've never seen an ice storm and it doesn't look like something I'd like to happen. Stay warm! It's in the 50's here.

Thanks, According to the Internet, there are already 3500 people in Kingston without power so far. My trees are getting heavier by the minute. Very pretty to look out at though.

We get as many ice storms as we do snow storms here in SC. Yes, it's pretty when there is only a .25" of ice but when it starts building to .50" and higher, and the trees/power lines start dropping, it gets ugly fast.

Hopefully, you have some backup heat and a way to prepare food there, Molly.

Thank you, It is only a few degrees below freezing so that isn't too bad, for food, I can do with a peanut butter sandwich, then I don't have to cook. Here is my sunroom window. Try to paint this in Gimp.

70 thousand estimated folks without power here in Western Michigan alone. We got slammed by this ice storm when it came over the lake. Today i went out to de ice the car and there was an 1/2 inch of ice all over it. It was entirely encased. :lol
I love the way a large open field looks with the top layer just so smoothed out by the ice. It is really beautiful but as Molly stated very dangerous for travel.

Hang in there Molly. It is supposed to turn to snowfall very soon i hear. :)
7 inches expected here. Looks like a white Christmas after all!
Looks like it's time to break out the sleds and the hot cocoa.

Yes, I forgot how close Michigan is. You are up around the big Lakes, Erie I think, but anyway ice storms are beautiful to look at but my neighbor next door who has two really nice white birches, are both down almost to the ground. They planted all their trees the same time we did. Ours are mostly maples but the branches are still hanging pretty low. I just saw on the internet that the rain is over and we might get some snow on top of the ice, so that isn't good either.
Anyway, it could be worse, at least it isn't hurricane country, or floods, mud sldes etc.

Lake Michigan. :)
I live close to Grand Haven which is right on the lake shore. I bet the lake shore looks real cool right now. Sorry to hear about your trees. let's just hope they don't explode. Have you heard any transformers blow yet?

No I haven't but the one that serves my area is just the other side of the 12 fence, 4 sets of via rail tracks then there is a mall there with Best buy, Odeon theatre and several other stores, It blew last year and what a scary sound.

Lovely photos Mo. I'm hoping bad weather holds off here in the UK for my journey but we have been having mixed forecasts that include a storm that is hovering around these islands. I would hate to have weather as extreme as yours.

This has been the only ice store here to speak of since 1986 so we don't get many. We don't get much snow anymore either. You will be on that plane. Are you taking your lappy?

Yep - the lappy is an essential. :)

We have been lucky here in the top of Ohio, all rain and very little ice. I feel sorry for all those who have to make do without power!
