Nice!
It looks like something that might be able to be done using G'Mic. Would be interesting to find out if it could be done this way.

I've been wanting (secretly) to be able to do such renderings since seeing the T. Rowe/Price commercials (remember the GIMPressionist Rice preset?). Now this guy actually can do these and he hinted that he uses scripts and a bunch of other things ; a labor of love he says. I have no idea how it's done since I'm just a poser. lol

Oh well; guess the oriental in me am happy I perfected rice anyway. :)

So what I gather for what you're saying is that it's possible to do this, somehow with Gimp. He must have came across some kind of script combination that does wonders.
Very interesting...

Hey Lyle have you tried out the new Mycellium Filter by Bootchk?

Probably won't give great as results as those but it has a wormy effect and may be a starting point. :)
Good luck with this however you pursue it. I am sure you will get awesome results as usual. ;)
On the other hand a wire lines may not be a hard filter to write. :)
If you can find the lines in an image (ie Edges>Neon) or other. You could then manipulate those lines by say smoothing them? I will have to look into an algorithm for this effect. :hehe . Possibly you could manipulate a Gimpressionist brush within a script to follow those neon edges also. Some possibilities there.

Actually it looks like there is a frame that he starts from (larger wires/cables), and then adds on the smaller stuff.
