Somewhere, before I went on holiday, someone submitted a query about removing objects from an image.
The image (below) is the result after I removed various things and people. I have done this over several weeks trying to find the best methods.
My conclusions: Heal Selection is best in some circumstances and GMIC Inpaint (patch-based) is better in others. However, many times it is necessary to use the Clone tool, the Healing Brush, or a combination of the two.

Unfortunately I can't find the original image for a comparison. Is it one of Isabella's?

david.

I couldn't resist:

edit: also a more balanced, colder one (upper one).

Thank you Issabella for your comment. I tried pencil B&W filter on the same picture that iarga made 2 good detailled outputs. I used the original and some hdr color change after pencil effect.

This thread has gone quiet lately! So here are a few photographs for anyone to play with.
One of them is a spectacular weeping willow - the roots are 4 or 5 metres above the road!
Whilst in Greece in September, there were four days of "freak" weather. Big waves. Three days hot and sunny, the fourth day heavily overcast.
I tried to capture the effect.

David, thank you so much for sharing your nice photos. We are in the game again, and I enjoy seeing your results. Dinasset and Pat you did such beautiful improvement. :bigthup :cool
These are my tries to the photos. I didn't want to be too intrusive on last picture 2474, keeping the nice dark atmosphere of the moment. :)

Nice results from everyone!
Now, my attempts.

waves: I tried to increase the gloom of the land and the sky.
weeping_willow: removed the cable and boosted the colours.

The other two.

spray: darkened the rocks, because I thought they were distracting, emphasized the spray.
spray2: again emphasized the spray.
