The photos were taken in my yard. I used G'MIC Black & White/Ink Wash, leaving a copy of the original layer in place and trying a few different things with overlays to get the effect I was looking for (impressionism). ![]() I took the picture of a dahlia from my garden with an oil painting in background after I used five photo filters : ContrastOverlay, DRmult, ISONRMult, Overblown and USM. |

@Gnutux you found a vein of an artist in you, nice outcomes I wanted to play myself with your edited images (I personally like more contrast, but it's my taste) Attachment: 2_cam-fullbush-impress-DN.png [ 791.52 KiB | Viewed 6562 times ] Attachment: 2_rode2-impress-DN.png [ 486.41 KiB | Viewed 6562 times ] using masks and adding contrast |

Nice results everyone. So here is an example of something I did early on in my gimp years, I had just discovered how to make a glitter type pattern and so applied it to a photo, you should possible recognise the image as a default windows wallpaper. ![]() |

I only did one out of 7 with more than one G'MIC filter. The original is a red/carmine double Hibiscus
![]() I have typed the filter I used on the pictures but it may be a bit hard to see. 1st row - 1) Watercolour and Psychadelic glasswork tiler, 2) fractalize & 3) Colour abstraction painting. 2nd row - 1) Coloured pencils, 2) Cartoon & Bokeh 3rd Row - 1) Black Crayon Grafitti & 2) Original |

Yes, SallyAnne, you are right, Black Crayon Graffiti is a nice filter. Normally I prefer to use it as an overlaying layer on top of the original. In your case something like this: Attachment: 1831_double hibiscus_G&O.png [ 261.16 KiB | Viewed 6528 times ] |

Hello! I'm sure you all know this "annoying" flower. I took this photo ![]() It is totally original. Well converted raw to png. So I played with filters. Usually I don't play with photos but manipulating photos in "hard" way seems to produce quite interesting results. So my tries: G'mic Cartoon ![]() Color pen ![]() Lylejks Pencil ![]() G'mic Morphing ![]() I would be very happy to see how you would manipulare thhe original. Ps. I haven't been very well but still reading and learning from you. |

Great results, folks! ![]() dinasset wrote: (I personally like more contrast, but it's my taste) I like the added contrast, especially on the Camellia bush. Although, it's seems a bit softer without the extra contrast, which helps with the impressionistic look. I guess it just depend on what you're going for in the final result.
