I just started using GIMP. I did this to a photo, how did I do it? I forget. HELP!!

For something close try:
-desaturate
-duplicate layer
-gaussian blur 6.5 on top layer
-divide mode

Thanks. I know I didn't do those things. It had to be simpler than that. I'll try them though.

Location: Native to NYC living in Arizona, Gimp 2.8 & 2.10, Win 11 PC.
You can also try this method below.

Duplicate image 2 times.

Top image: Reduce saturation to -100.
Set layer mode to saturation.

Middle Image: Set layer mode to dodge.
Invert color.
Gaussian Blur image.
(image size determines the amount of blur.
Larger images use more blur.).

Bottom Layer: Adjust color levers as desired.

There is a python plug-in by TIM called 'Picture to Line Art' that can deliver similar results. The layers produced from the plug-in are retained in the result, so it also allows you to tweak that outcome. Here is an example.
