i took 5 photos and chose 3 of the best ones, placed them together on a 1664x412 px canvas, and used only the curves tool and hue and saturation tool to get the image almost seamless.

That is excellent, Rod. I can't even see where you joined them. Nice work!

I only used 2 images for this one.It looks pretty neat though.I kept the person in for emphasis on the size of this map.

Are there any scripts to do panoramas in gimp? I tried to do one a couple years ago...FAIL! I guess I got the colors ok, but I don't think I knew about all the tools to get the edges of the bldg better! Let me see if I can find it...there it is...it is from 3 pics, but I can see a huge mess up with opacity and totally not lined up well on the building...I think I will have to redo it soon!

I do have one under filters/combine/make panorama not sure what the name of the script is though.

i have better results by just using the curves tool though.
just open curves and click the color in the image you want to change to make the edged seamless, and the curves tool will show you where to adjust that particular color, works very nicely. =)

Getting lines and things to mate up is a whole other story. =P

there is also a program called Hugin which is freeware that does only Panoramas.

Pandora simplifies the process of stitching together a sequence of panorama images.

Load all the panorama pieces (in order) as layers inside an image (suggestion: make a new image then "Open as Layers" and select all the files). Then run Filters->Combine->Make Panorama.

Toni, that tall building is stupendous. It's totally beautiful.

I tried re-doing it using the panorama script...but I couldn't figure out how to use it properly. I tried opening all 3 pics each as their own layer. I even did them sideways as it gave no choice for vertical or horizontal. I actually did better using my own set up...just opened as layers and then used perspective to overlap, did some erasing. I did have to use another copy of the center layer with more erasing to cover up some noticeable lines in the sky. Argh, I still see where it's not right. Oh well, one of these days I'll get it right.
p.s. surely ya'll recognize Rockefeller Center!!!
