i fully agree on nodal editing !!
Mon May 23, 2011 8:08 pm
Actually the type of node editing i was referring to was like nodes in a path.
When you draw out shapes or whatever in the program there are nodes in the lines to bend or edit them further.

It does not seem to have a arrow draw tool with the line tool though.Unless i am just missing it somewhere.hard to tell there is so much to see here.
![Razz :P](./images/smilies/icon_razz.gif)
All in all i'd say it's a pretty decent program, though i am not sure it's compatible for many systems.

lol; see you got me started on my node crusade and you meant vector nodes. lol
Still, the ideal editor will be a nodal one and it will be a happy day when GIMP will be the first mainstream editor to implement it (heard talk that Photoshop will do so too, but don't think they want to take that risk; this is where GIMP will shine imo and yes, GIMP is a mainstream editor).

no even planned i installing now on Win i may try later on wine
from the descriction the only defect seems to be not OS
...anyway really impressive as graphic software also because seems to come from the work of a single developer

Wouldn't install in Wine, but I did manage to batch install it in Q4wine. It's a bit jerky in using the mouse/brush options (could be my laptop is old)
Mon May 23, 2011 8:57 pm
how you "batch install with Q4wine" ?
Mon May 23, 2011 9:00 pm
I emailed him asking if he has any plans to make it available as opensource (GPL) in the future.
Possibly making it available to compile on Linux that way.
Something tells me he probably doesn't plan on giving out the code though.

I'll let you know his reply.

Mahvin the brush/mouse dynamics on my machine are very quick to respond.Could be your laptop as you suggested.
This has a remarkably quick live render engine.

Batch install involves extracting the files as you normally would for Wine, but instead of executing the setup.exe, open q4wine and browse to the extracted files in explorer, and activate the batch file (silent install)
When extracting this, you'll need to create a folder to save them to, because if you don't, it doesn't automatically create a parent folder, and the files will scatter in your downloads folder.

Willy to get a new transparent layer just go to Layer/new
first dialog that pops up click ok (or change it to be diff size than the last created layer).
Then you will have this dialog pop up.
Choose transparent click ok

Mon May 23, 2011 9:14 pm
I forgot to add, once you get it installed, then you can open it via Wine.

Check out Configure/plug-in manager.

You can import Gimp GBR files (Gimps brushes)
To setup 8bf's you need to click on the photo-shop add 8bf area and click configure
Then add the path to your 8bf's folder.

Another thing i love is if the program crashes on you for some reason autosave saves every 1 minute (or you can set this to what you want).

I had a couple of lockups in Win 7, but I'm looking into it.
Mon May 23, 2011 11:23 pm
Pretty sure i will be adding this one to Shellout.
Mon May 23, 2011 11:27 pm

I guess we'll need to grab this while it's still free. I read about it in some comments about free image editors and those comments were 2 years old. Very surprised that it's so unknown still.
What is Shellout?
