Hi all,
I have gimp-2.9.1 on a separate partition and I wrote in the gimp-2.9 thread that the latest git version was usable.
Partha then asked me if it would open 16 bit tiff files.
I always used ufraw as a plugin in gimp to open raw files.
So I opened a raw file in gimp-2.9.1 with ufraw but it could only make 8 bit tiff's.
I then ran ufraw stand alone and then you can save it into 16 bit tiff's.
I have no idea why but gimp errored out trying to load the file.
Long ago when it had just gone open source I tried rawtherapee (2.4 I think) but stuck with ufraw.
Not wanting to let partha down I remembered rawtherapee so I installed it (4.0.9).
And boy was I surprised it's far better than ufraw
and it produces 16 bit tiff's that gimp could read.
It's not an "easy" program but can do much more than ufraw.
It comes with excellent documentation and is available for Linux,Windows and Mac.
