I wonder if anyone has had anything to do with Typelight for linux
http://cr8software.net/typex.html

It works ok, maybe a bit easier to use than fontmatrix
but
Using PCLinuxOS
I can not get it to run other than as ROOT. Checked/tried all the permissions possible.
The unpacked archive goes in /opt, which is ok, I suppose. I did try it in usr/local, no good, it can not find some of the files.
The installer is nothing complicated, a simple script, just copies a file to etc/opt/ - I think that is strange, PCLOS does not normally have a etc/opt directory. Then some fonts to usr/share/fonts, that bit is ok.

It just will not run as a regular user. Not too keen on running as ROOT. Apart from security, the created font is owned by root and ownership has to be changed if I pop it into Gimp. PITA.

Any ideas?

edit: I see the same has been reported as an 'issue' with Mageia linux
