i made some rather cool text today that i put in my sig and a welcome post for a newbie, so i'm sure you've already seen the effect. it uses the deep dream generator (guess you could do it with dreamscope if you preferred, but i find the dreamscope results a lot harder to work on) and some g'mic filters, mainly "drop water". here's another example of the effect and the steps (or main steps, i always play around with layer modes and masks and stuff to get the maximum of the actual effect, but all those things are optional!) i took to get it:

1. make a text layer on transparent background and alpha select, save selection as channel
2. make a coloured background and merge with text layer, export as png but don't close down.
3. deep dream png as many times as wanted.
4. open deep dreamed png as layer on original image.
5. open g'mic and go to "light and shadow" -> "relief light". run at default, or adjust settings according to taste, but set output to new layer.
6. set relief light layer to "overlay" and adjust opacity, all you want is some more volume, not an oversaturated image.merge layers.
7. turn your saved channel to selection, invert selection, pick your deep dream layer and press delete.
8. go to g'mic "deformations" -> "drop water" and set input to "active and above" and 'shapes' to 'opacity on top layer'.
9. make a visible of the result, turn off or delete layers below.
10. go to g'mic "details" -> "freaky details" and run at default but with output set to new layer. set new layer on overlay and pull opacity down to around 50%. merge down. done!
