With Gimp it would already been impressive, with vectors it's awesome.

But:

- shouldn't that be "with A cup of coffee"?
- why is the cup not in the saucer?
- the shadows of the cup and saucer nicely converge to the light source, but the shadows of "Good morning" aren't consistent with this.
- the shadow of the saucer shows a strange banding as soon as you zoom a bit in it, and it has a visible "white on white" limit (on the other hand the more difficult shadow of the cup is perfect, so WTF?)

wow, just wow. That is so very realistic looking. And for me, a fresh and steaming cup of coffee is just about the only reason for getting up in the morning!

Thanks for your comment ofnuts!

-It is acceptable to drop articles in some cases, e.g. posters, mottos, adds, headers, etc.
It is considered a bad syntax to use more than one definite/indefinite article in the same simple sentence, except for some special words
but this rule varies from country to country. For example, I heard many times Englishmen would say e.g. "he was sent to hospital"
This sounds very unusual for an American ear, we would say "to the hospital" 100 times out of 100.

-Cup is not in the saucer because doing cup shadows on curved surface would be a PITA.
-The original Good Morning shadows were correct but then I rotated the whole thing without redoing shadows.
-This is a vector shadow, what looks like banding is actually a row of paths. It appeared only after I'd changed background gradient.
I should increase the number of blending steps to somewhere around 60 [from 31] but the file also becomes much 'heavier'.

You have a very keen eye ;)
There are some other imperfections here and there, I'll correct them. Working on fine details too much kills an inspiration in me,
so I was in a hurry to finish the work and refine it later on.

Thank you molly!

I also made a teaspoon and two sugar cubes then decided to dump them.
Sugar cubes with sharp shadows actually looked awesome but the scene was getting too crowded.
So I got rid of them.

what about some hermesetas? They take very little room... Anyway, very nice job where ever the shadows are, looks very real to me.

I acknowledge your healthy choice molly ;) but do they come in cubes, tablets or sachets?

@ofnuts made some corrections, posting new image on page 1.
Didn't have to increase # of paths, changing stroke thickness to 2 px turned out to be enough.

k1tesseraena: admit it, brother - you are trying to start up a coffee versus tea war. :hoh "mornings were made for coffee" indeed. hmph! your improved version looks even better than the first one and i think the sugar cubes wouldn't clutter the picture either - but they look a little bit too smooth right now.

There's no tea vs coffee war because there's no tea left. All the tea went in the harbor.

I like the sugar cubes, though like AnMal said, they could do with a little bit more texture.

Must have been Paul Revere eh EK22? Funny thing that Eris drinks so much coffee cuz The British are known to be tea drinkers.

It's not a very accurate stereotype these days Molly. Most of us drink coffee because we have developed good taste. :teeth

Tell that to all my British relatives. They all had to have their tea, water had to be bouncing .

AnMal, sister, I am not a warmonger. To prove that I'll make something tea related, maybe
a poster saying "Drinking tea is like drinking a hot water" :rofl Just kidding!!!!!OK?

Erisian, my brother, be prepared to become a celebrity  I'm planning on posting this image all over the Net. ;)

Thanks for remarks, everyone.
I know why I didn't include sugar cubes in the first place - they look like diced plastic foam

Almost time for a merciless strike : :wh
In this war of cafe Vs tea supporters soon the few survivors will be if not crippled beyond hope at least weakened by the conflict

And then we will strike , a merciless flow of steaming hot , black dense chocolate, not Nesquick but real pure cacao solved in milk , covered by fresh whipped cream (sweeteners instead white sugar tolerated , to compensate the whipped cream served with soft almond cookies ,classic grand ma Apple tart tolerated , if home made with organic ingredients  )

Soon a new age of steaming hot chocolate will submerge and drawn the unfaithfuls ,

but we may image Anmal finding a safe shelter for herself and her favorite teabags ,( a couple for each keen ),in the bigger of her teapots , floating so safely over the chocolate flood

while Erisian will try the same but using as boat the bigger of his cafe machines

Most likely after 40 days they will both end beached on the top of the Ararat, and from there they will try to ally to raise again, to raise against the New Age of Prosperity, the Age of the Steaming Hot, Dense, Dark Chocolate with Fresh Whipped Cream and Homemade Almond Cookies

@K1TesseraEna
I still hope that a very pure dark chocolate drink :cool ...the sugar cubes are nice but i would prefer sweeteners (to balance some extra fresh whipped cream :lol )
