I downloaded it yesterday but haven't installed it yet. I hope to play with it later. Saying it's better than photoshop is a big statement, if it was true it would de-throne gimp but I'll believe it when I see it.

The pen tool is NICE! :mrgreen: I can definitely see myself using it for cut outs to save some time in gimp.
Text tool is great too. You can gradient overlay text and give drop shadows all while still working in the text tool.

Wish the guy who made this was a GIMP developer. Can you imagine?

I haven't figured out how to record your desktop though. But it can record your webcam.

I couldn't get it to run 8bf plugins, but maybe I wasn't looking in the right places. It seemed to me to be a little cumbersome but then Gimp seemed that way at first. Other than to fool around with I can't see it as replacing gimp.

Nothing is replacing GIMP for me any time soon. I just know GIMP too well. But if it's doing something in addition to GIMP then I might use it. The help and the tooltips make this program easier to learn.

I finally installed sandboxie and installed in there. Looked at all the files that were installed and it installed a temporary index.dat file in internet explorer temp files. It seemed to contain all the info of my cookies. Is that normal?

I have a very hard time convincing myself that this guy is programming this alone, even if he has won a big lottery prize and doesn't need a normal job to feed himself and purchase computers. Because he has other non-trivial stuff to offer...

Your right offnuts; he even has a Mathcad like program for free. I'm leary of such a prolific programmer giving away his gems (i.e., I hope his software doesn't include some malware in it; lol). :)

I haven't had any troubles yet, so yeah, if someone runs into issues, please inform everyone, and don't uninstall unless you have to, might make anything nasty mad :)

To add 8bf GMS you need to go to Configure/click on plug-in manager
The plug in manager will open for you.
Select efx_Photoshop.dll/click configure button
Configure Photoshop 8bf for IES dialog will pop up
Browse to the 8bf plug-in click ok
Plugins are auto loaded you can use them right away.
Go to effects in menu at top select external plug-ins another dialog opens select
Photoshop 8bf for IES
Your list of plug-ins opens.Ready to use. :)
This way of opening the filters lets the program open faster as it doesnt need to load any ps filters it just loads the folder and connects to it externaly.Pretty swift.

Lyle and ofnuts i understand your concerns.
The software seems to run very nicely i wouldn.t say it's better than Gimp as Gimp has more layer modes and things this software doesn't.But running through Shellout i can use this to run PS Texturizer filter and that in itself is something i have not seen any other external software accomplish.Normally only a small interface will open.
I am going to attempt to run the PS Pattern Maker through it. :)

I have no complaints about the freeware as of yet.
It's fast and it does what it says it will do.It also does some things it doesn't mention.
All in all i think for free you can't beat the price for such a great freeware program.
I just hope it stays up as freeware or goes to GPL opensource.I would love to keep getting updates from this company whomever they are.

Many developers will offer something for free in hopes you buy something else.This program contains no adware or malware that i am aware of.I do check all my downloads before i install them by the way. ;)

I'm not too worried about malware. There are more efficient ways to distribute that. But that could be a covert Microsoft operation, for instance. Microsoft is losing its lock-in battle. MSN is replaced by Facebook, OpenOffice/LibreOffice is an alternative to MS-Office (that's what I use at work and no-one noticed...), IE is no longer the leading browser (now in 3rd place). What application can induce people to stay with Windows?

That is a good point.
Especially if it's free. :)

So am I, hence the decision to install Sandboxie here. But Cnet has it listed saying it has no malware, and I scanned it with Avast, Malwarebytes and Superantispyware and they all say it's clean. Anyone here who has different anti-virus programs they can scan it with?

Don't think it's a microsoft product. It was too easy to install.

Think we've exhausted the best malware scanners. :lol Anyone here with Avira? I hear it has a very high detection rate.

lol at the Microsoft install remark. :)
A little fooling around with the tools.

428 kb seems kind of big though for just a image this size i think.

I like how you can left click and right click for foreground and background colors in the color pallet. :)
You can set alpha for both at the same time for custom gradients.
You can't beat the live preview gradient creation either.
Not many brushes but i can add Gimps anyways.And i believe it supports ABR as well. ;)

Jolie how do you like the smoothing tool for auto blurring the edges of rough lines.I think that's an awesome option too.I used it on the clouds.

The texture tool i used on the sand.You select a texture objects/texture/load from file
Then just paint the texture on the color....sweet.

If you select the hand tool in the tool box you can right click the image and get another little goody - effects/program. :)

This lets you create your own programs to use inside Chasey.
By issuing simple instructions to the Chasys Draw IES Artist GraphAsm Interpreter, you can write short programs to implement your own custom visual effects.
GraphAsm supports both math operations and more powerful graphical commands like interpolation to give you the power to squeeze as much juice as possible into your macros. Can things get better than that?
********************************************

General Programming Rules
All GraphAsm statements should end with a semi-colon. ;
Comments should begin with //; the whole line will be treated like a comment.
Most GraphAsm instructions take this form:

instruction dest, value1, value2;
dest is the destination, it must be one of the predefined variables.
value1 and value2 may be variables or numbers, depending on what the instruction does.

To specify a number, use a hash # followed by the numeral. There should be no spaces between the # and the numerals. GraphAsm does not accept decimals. To work with fractional values, use fixed point math with the shift instructions.
#1234 // correct
#-147 // correct
# 77 // wrong - spacing
# -1 // wrong - spacing
#1.9 // wrong - decimal

Please note that you can't use a numeral as a destination; it is not logical to do so. For example, the following statement is wrong:
add #123, red, blue; // wrong
The correct form would be:
add red, #123, blue; // correct
or
add _a, red, blue; // correct

Your program will be executed for each pixel in the image, starting at the top left corner. Keep that in mind.

GraphAsm Variables
The following are preset color variables. On entry, they specify the color of the current pixel. On exit, they specify the color the pixel should be set to by the interpreter. They are:
blue green red alpha
The following are preset location variables. On entry, they specify the location of the current pixel. They are not checked on exit. They are:
_x _y //note the underscores
The following are general variables, use them for anything you please.
_a _b _c _d _e _f _g _h _i _j

GraphAsm Commands
The following are the commands that you use with GraphAsm:

EXIT - exit the program
Usage: exit;

ADD - adds two variables
Usage: add dest var1 var2;

SUBTRACT - subtracts var2 from var1
Usage: subtract dest var1 var2;

MULTIPLY - multiplies var1 by var2
Usage: multiply dest var1 var2;

DIVIDE - divides var1 by var2
Usage: divide dest var1 var2;

MODULUS - divides var1 by var2, placing the remainder, not the answer, in destination
Usage: modulus dest var1 var2;

SHIFT_LEFT - left-shifts var1 by var2
Usage: shift_left dest var1 var2;

SHIFT_RIGHT - right-shifts var1 by var2
Usage: shift_left dest var1 var2;

AND - performs a logical AND on var1 and var2
Usage: and dest var1 var2;

OR - performs a logical OR on var1 and var2
Usage: or dest var1 var2;

XOR - performs a logical XOR on var1 and var2
Usage: xor dest var1 var2;

NOT - performs a logical NOT on src
Usage: not dest src;

MIX - performs an interpolation between var1 and var2. The value of factor on entry is the weight of var1 relative to 1000. On exit it contains the result.
Usage: mix factor var1 var2;

COPY - copies the contents of src to dest
Usage: copy dest src;

SWAP - swaps the contents of var1 and dest
Usage: swap var1 var2;

LOAD_PIXEL - loads a pixel into the predefined variables red, green, blue, and alpha.
Usage: load_pixel x-pos y-pos;

COMPARE_EQUAL - sets dest to 1 if var1 is equal to var2.
Usage: compare_equal dest var1 var2;

COMPARE_LESS - sets dest to 1 if var1 is less than var2.
Usage: compare_less dest var1 var2;

COMPARE_MORE - sets dest to 1 if var1 is more than var2.
Usage: compare_more dest var1 var2;

LABEL - used to mark points in a program.
Usage: label number; e.g. // label #2;

GOTO - used to jump to a labelled location.
Usage: goto label_number; e.g. // goto #2;

GOTOIF - used to jump to a labelled location if var is not zero.
Usage: gotoif var label_number; e.g. // gotoif red, #2;

RAND - used to genrate a random number between 0 and 32767
Usage: rand dest; e.g. // rand _a;

GraphAsm Examples
Try the following examples to get you up to speed:

//Swap RED and GREEN
swap red green;

//Morning Fog
copy _c #500;
mix _c red #192;
copy red _c;

copy _c #500;
mix _c green #192;
copy green _c;

copy _c #500;
mix _c blue #224;
copy blue _c;

//Random noise mask
rand _a;
and red _a #255;
rand _a;
and green _a #255;
rand _a;
and blue _a #255;

Almost like a filter assembler within the program.Pretty cool and something i will have to learn more about. :)
Looks pretty interesting.

Hey if you look in the help under upgrade you will find the program used to sell for 35 USD per license.
Its been changed to freeware from shareware.Looks like anyways. :)

To load GBR (Gimps brushes), just go to
Objects/Brushes/load from file.
Browse to the brush directory in Gimp and choose the brush and click open. :)

I think you can do that with textures also (pat)
This also works for Gimp gradient files - except choose objects/gradients/ manager
Select the small folder icon to browse to a gradient folder location
example
Image

Browse to the folder you want with Gimps gradients
Image

Select the save icon on the gradient manager if you want to save the gradient in Chasey format (GRA)
It opens GRA (its own), photoshops, and Gimps gradients,brushes, and pat files. :)

One thing i did notice however it does not support svg gradients.In fact you can not open SVG files at all without a separate plug-in it looks like.

You're a fountain of knowledge for this product. :) I haven't even figured out how to open the gradient editor yet.

Did you notice the gimp vine brush comes with it?
