Have some great results at your site, Erisian. Still, I'm trying to not use AIs as much, so, for when I do, ddg will do. Still, I have questions. First, assuming mage.space is free, what size limits do they impose? Just curious.

For a square image, your initial run is 1024x1024 but you then have the option to upscale and enhance it, then it becomes 4096x4096. You can choose from seven aspect ratios. You get unlimited images as it doesn't rely on "energy." You can give unlimited likes. There are three plans; Free, Basic and Pro.

Some time back I painted a portrait of a Rajasthani gypsy. So I thought I would see what AI (mage.space) could do with the prompt 'fantasy portrait Rajastahn gypsy palace background' - I was absolutely staggered by the result. I just added a border and here it is below. The foreground to background perspective just makes her stand out so well.

everywhere A.I. (I don't know whether you visit Deviant Art, but nowadays almost 90% of the images are A.I.; good photographers and good artists are close to extinction, alas!).

That is how I used to feel about filtered images here on GC. People take an image and just run a filter on it then display it proudly as if they had done something highly skillful. In the end, I gave in and thought, "If that is what people enjoy doing, who am I to argue?" I am an artist but I don't have any problem with AI. It is just a different way of getting pleasure from creating images. Try not to get too stressed about it.

In addition to Erisian, I'm not an artist; often say I'm a filter guy for a reason. lol

I see nothing wrong using AI as a tool; same as I do filters. I see AI as a very advanced filter. Below's the extent of my ability to hand draw (so aren't you folk glad I know how to use filters? lol).

Enjoy AI while you can. An algorithm predicts AI will become stupid once it samples a lot of AI-generated content. Right now it's just parasitizing us humans.

When that happens the attractive Rajasthani gypsy will look like the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

It is NOT a Gimp or Gmic filter, it's a fake creation.
(It has already invaded Deviant Art: 95% of the outcomes there are generated by A.I....alas!)

You are right, Diego, that's why I try to use AI as a tool rather it taking over me. lol

Still, when it comes to upscaling images, you have to admit, there really is no equal even if it does create some fake details.

The program you used, uses realesrgan-x4plus to do the work. It works well and I've used it a few times. It's not the best choice for all images though. Another good one is an Avisynth filter called "nnedi3". It will produce better upscale on some types of images and can be used to upscale images in multiples of 2.

The only problem with Avisynth, is it's a "Windows" program, so I have to run a VM in order to use it.

Just deep dreamed the AI result for this one. Uprezzed and added some G'MIC enhancements as well. Had to save with High smoothing compression (original 85% was 6.2MBytes). lol
