I know David's been buzy with the Sourceforge fiasco, but I do hope he sees this thread and maybe see if G'MIC can do these. Copy/Paste as bitmap isn't what I would like to do and not sure if I really want to learn blender just so I can use the stl files with it. :)

Wow, that sucks. Not trying to make you feel bad, but I've been able to access my account there again since I posted earlier. Very odd that you can't get in.

I tried it too.(sculpture generator)
Since I don't have Windows had to use wine.
Stumbled upon a nice GUI to use Wine: q4wine.
http://q4wine.brezblock.org.ua/document ... steps.html
I had to recompile my kernel though because it wants "fuse" enabled.
Too bad I can't save the files in a format that Gimp recognizes.
I wonder if it's not possible to achieve the same with the many filters available in Gimp.
Gerard.

I have access to my Deviant Art account also, no problems at all.
I also have FireFox set to remember passwords, maybe that's the difference.
That is weird though.

Here is the modified tcl file with demo gif and ppm files. I renamed the original tcl file and included it in the zip. The files "generator.tcl" and "generator.tcl.old" file go into the bin folder. The ppm and gif files get added to the images folder. You can replace the 5 new gif and ppm files with your own.

Please let me know what you think.

Works excellent for me too PM!
Thanks. :)

I didn't directly ask David (G'MIC), but did add a wishlist entry concerning this. G'MIC can do 3D; not sure if can manipulate stl files though. I know it can do mimimal surfaces (like the gyroid; David made a preset just for me a few months ago). Mapping textures to surfaces is another story; not happy with G'MICs results as I am with this little program. :)

I think G'MIC could do the whole thing, if the interface is built. I was thinking on this earlier and using the molten gold texture made this from the 3D object "Weird":

Thanks Lyle for sharing this gem, and PM for modifying the tcl file. Is there a limit to how many additional patterns you can add? I tried to add another 5 and thought I had all the bases covered, but it threw errors.

Anyway, it's been fun playing with the generator.

Wow; love that drift wood texture Mahvin; have a link to it? Again, I wish G'MIC would perspective texture like this program does, but it's probably just too much for a 2D app with some 3D capabilities to do. I'm still grateful that Schmiegel shared this one with me at his Deviant. This guy's stuff is nothing short of amazing by the way (as a side note, it was he who got me on my gyroid binge a while back). Linking his Deviant below. :)
