I've recently rediscovered ffDiaporama. It's open source advanced video slideshow software for showing off your photos and graphics, it's one of the best ones I've ever seen. The only drawback is if you are new to video editing there is a steep learning curve. For those familiar with video editing the options will impress and the help documentation is top notch.

It could be used to make video tutorials from screenshots. It also does picture in picture video.
